The transition to a more sustainable economy is a major challenge for our planet. Regional governments are strongly committed to identifying and rehabilitating abandoned, under-used and neglected land in order to enhance the value of these urban wastelands rather than opening up new spaces. It is in this perspective that the European project New-C-Land was created.
New-C-Land aims to identify marginal land in the border regions of Flanders, Wallonia and France with the best possibilities for the valorisation of non-food biomass. The project also aims to bring landowners and biomass customers together to stimulate the development of industrial value chains. In addition, New-C-Land removes practical and organisational barriers to initiating biomass projects.
The New-C-Land project has a direct impact on businesses in the border region by addressing critical issues that businesses cannot solve alone. In the long term, the project will stimulate the trans-regional bio-based economy through the sustainable use of local resources produced on marginal land.
Atrasol, a Belgian renewable energy company, is proud to be a partner in the New-C-Land project. We strongly believe in the importance of using renewable and sustainable resources to address current environmental challenges. We have contributed to the establishment of sustainable value chains for the valorisation of non-food biomass.
As a partner of New-C-Land, Atrasol has worked closely with other organisations, such as Ghent University, the Chambre d’Agriculture de Région Nord Pas-de-Calais in France, and INAGRO in Belgium, to identify the best opportunities for biomass valorisation. Together, we have developed innovative solutions to stimulate the transition to a bio-based economy.
We are proud to be part of this cross-border initiative to promote a sustainable economy. Atrasol, we will continue to support innovative projects that contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable economy.
